Certified Interconnect Designer Instructors

Certified Instructors play a very important part in the IPC Designers Council certification program. Instructors contribute to the industry by teaching the PWB Designers Certification and administering the certification exam.

Certified Instructors are recognized for their extensive knowledge of the course material and are proudly advancing the printed board design profession.

Becoming an Instructor

Qualification for Instructors

  1. Must have obtained certification in the module they wish to instruct.
  2. Must be recommended by the IPC Designers Council Education Committee. Acceptance will be based upon need.
  3. Must be available to instructor a minimum of 4 IPC sponsored certification preparation workshops per year to keep status active.
  4. Must score the examinations and discuss the results during a critique afterwards.
  5. Must take an Instructor in Training course, which will take place during a certification workshop critiqued and graded by a certified master instructor.
    • Candidate is required to present the entire two-day workshop.
    • Candidate is required to score the examinations, and lead the discussion afterward.
    • Candidate will make themselves available immediately after the examination to assist any participants who desire more private responses.
  6. Must possess appropriate knowledge of technical content.
  7. Must demonstrate appropriate presentation skills to successfully transfer technical content to students.
    • Successful transfer of technical content will be measured by comparison of the average pass ratio of the class to the national average for courses given within the last year. The ratio must be consistent with the national average within five percentage points. In addition, results of submitted student course evaluation forms shall be consistent with the national average for courses given within the last year.
    • Candidates may be asked to take an additional Instructor in Training course if deemed necessary.
  8. After passing, the individual must be recommended by a certified master instructor.

Qualification for Master Instructors

  1. Must have active status as instructor in the module they wish to become a master.
  2. Must have been an active member of the education committee for at least two years and attend scheduled education committee meetings.
  3. Must be recommended by Instructor Review Board.
  4. Must be appointed by the education committee. Master instructors must be recommended by the master instructor review board for approval by the education committee.
